Good nibble food,any ideas?

Many of us have found that food plays a large part in our physical and mental health. Some of us struggle with our relationship with food. What are you eating (or not eating) these days?

Good nibble food,any ideas?

Postby naomibardo » Oct 27, 2017 5:52 pm

I was wondering whether people had any ideas about what foods are good to nibble on.
I am stuck at cereal or toast and I wondered of people had other ideas.

cereal or toast? oh my god ahahah where to even begin.

wel theres like, literally millions of things to eat besides that, though i dont know whats available in your neck of the british woods. some of my favorites are Dates. pickles. sometimes (usually) i just drink the pickle juice. hmm

chips obviously, or, you call them crisps. im thinking you want something a bit healthier than that...

nuts are good, expensive though

you can buy kale and make kale crisps,
bake em in an oven at like 350, but u have to turn them over a bunch too,
really good with curry powder on them surprisingly, if you can stand your house smelling like curry for 4 hours,

hmm

in america we eat cheese and crackers a lot. idk if you do that? but its good.

hummus

cheese and crackers, cheese and hummus
hummus and crackers,

sometimes i eat cheese and hotsauce...

so many things!

my advice, eat literally everything.

other cultures eat so much stuff, and all we eat is like "ceral and toast, and eggs, and bacon"

its pathetic. no offense. im talking about me too, my "culture"

eat! explore. find new things. try everything once.
hell, i hear those big black ants taste like sour raspberyy, but u gotta bite the head off first or they'll bite your tongue...

just eat everything. try it all.

let us know how it is!
i'll try to do the same

yes thanks solefood.
I do eat obviously a lot more than cereal and toast and am well aware of the varieties of foods out there to be consumed.

Its just that I was wondering what I could have that maybe something different that I had not thought of and might be some ones own particular peculiarity.

Yes dates are good,I made this date and nut mixture thing with coco and maple syrup in it which was quite yummy.

Crisps I stay away from completely because they are lethally Moorish and way too salty usually.

Toasted tortilla and avocado dip is good but I have no avocados at present.

Its just that toast is my go to thing because I always have bread and peanut butter and something called marmite which we have here in UK.

I thought especially seeing as the US seems particularly good at thinking up rather strange concoctions that people might have some other suggestions.

I do like cheese but I am trying to stay away from it,cheese and apples are really good together.
Pancakes and bananas are another go to as you can get these packets of pancakes ready made.
I just was looking for some inspiration as I often get peckish.

I suppose dried fruit and nuts are a good go to and healthy.
Pitta bread toasted til its crisp is really good as well with various toppings on.

what IS marmite? ive been wondering for facking ages, honestly.

yea i know, i was hoping to inspire you.

im not sure, google what people in japan snack on, or morrocoo, or india, or wherever.

find a local indian or asian market or something, thats what i try to do.

we have an asian market here, bloody hell

they have isles and isles of things ive never even dreamed of. they have an entire isle dedicated to dried mushrooms, things youve never heard of before in your life. its crazy.

happy hunting, happy snacking.

food is amazing

marmite is yeast extract, not that it makes things any clearer probably. It is this kind of umami flavour I would say,its kind of dark black and looks a bit like treacle and you put it on toast thinly spread.
I also like it on toast with am as I like that kind of savoury sweet thing going on,you should try if you can find an English supermarket that sells baked beans and sausages:)

I'm was just thinking actually at how they are doing various things with chick peas and such now, like wasabi covered ones baked in the oven so they'll crunchy.

Yes I know there is a vast array of various foods from all over the world, yes googling snacks from various countries is a good idea.
I sometimes like hearing about peoples various idiosyncratic snack inventions though.I think pregnant women are probably the best to ask for those, they can get into some pretty weird flavour combinations.

Yes,food is good but I also need to keep an eye on the calories!

I really wish I could get into carrot sticks and celery.

You can probably buy it online if you are that desperate to try it but yes its like vegemite but better! Its an acquired taste.I was not brought up on it and developed a taste for it later in life.

Olives,they're a good snack.

and I almost forgot,POPCORN,you can pop your corn at home and either make it salty or sweet and it is cheap and you can always have corn ready at hand.

yep cheese toasties are one of my all time favourites but I am really trying to give up the cheese but when I go out there ain't that much choice and I often succumb.

I've been getting into apples a lot recently,I live their crunchy freshness.

I need to get some sunflower seeds. they are good. I like the tamari roasted ones. it can be yummy to put sunflower seeds in an avocado after taking the seed out, yummy.

Pepitas too. Good italian seasoned ones, or just salted.
